RACE AT WORK
Let's talk about Race

We are thrilled to present our Let's Talk About Race webinar last month with our presenters, Fiona Daniel and Flora Alphonse. You can watch the the webinar below or the recording can be viewed here.

This discussion-based webinar covered the following themes:
-What do we mean by modern-day racism and how does this play out at work?
-What are race based micro-inequities and how do these impact BAME communities at work?
-What is White Privilege and why we need White allies to tackle modern- day racism?
-To learn how to move from a ‘colour blind’ approach to race inclusion to a ‘colour brave’ approach.

INTRODUCING OUR WHITE ALLYSHIP PROGRAMME

Non-white communities are the victims of everyday racism, but racism itself is not an issue which black communities can and should have to shoulder. To address the root causes of everyday racism, and issues of race equality in the workplace, organisations should engage their white colleagues as allies and agents of change. Drawing on research from social psychology and behavioural science our White Allyship programme introduces leaders, managers and other colleagues to a number of key themes; including:

-Providing an overview of the concept of White Privilege and how this leads to advantage for some groups and disadvantage and discrimination for others.
-An overview of the 4 stages of effective Allyship: Apathetic, Aware, Active, Advocate.
-What does being an ally really mean? How do allies think and act?.
-Skills include: Active listening and learning to challenge and speak up for others.
-Learn how, as a white ally you can to move from a ‘colour blind’ approach to a ‘colour brave’ framework.

This programme utilises a wide range of inclusive learning techniques and material, from videos, written case studies, small group discussions, whole group discussion, individual reflection and peer to peer coaching. It is important that a range of learning styles are utilised if we are to ensure participants take the time to ‘Learn, Think & Act’ on workplace inclusion. This ensures maximum participation in a way that is truly engaging and fully inclusive.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
